The Independence Youth Flying Club is a not-for-profit organization. Joining fees and member dues all go towards the operation of the club and help to cover our fixed costs like our hangers and insurance.
Membership Eligibility for IYFC
Primary eligibility requirement is that you must hold a FAA issued Private Pilots License (PPL) and be current with your flight reviews and medical. We ask that you also commit time to being part of our aviation community and dedicate time to getting to know the other pilots and members of the flying club. Since we all share these planes, this is an important part of being a club member.
How to join our Flying Club
To apply for membership, fill out the Member Application then contact the club president (Aaron Moore) to setup a meeting for club overview, paperwork, and to answer any questions you may have. Be sure to bring the following items to the meeting:
- Proof-of-eligibility (FAA Issued Certificate & Current Medical)
- Driver’s License
- A check or credit card for joining costs
Joining Fees and Monthly Dues
Initiation fee is $1000 and is a non-refundable due at the time of joining.
The monthly membership dues are $110 and you will receive a flight credit redeemable each month up to that value (Note that the flight credit is good for only 1 month). We do this to encourage our members to fly often and stay current. If you do not plan on flying for a three month period or more, this can be reduced to $25 per month by becoming an inactive member.

Rental Rates & Club Aircraft
Our club planes are rented out hourly based on hobbs time and include fuel (wet). For more details see the Aircraft & Rates section of our site.
