About IYFC

Independence Youth Flying Club, Inc. is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) Charitable Organization based at Independence State Airport (7S5) Oregon. The organisation was founded in 2019 and is one of the newest flying clubs in the area with a focus on continued education and affordable and safe access to aircraft.

The flying club is made possible through the kind and generous support of the flying community at and surrounding Independence Oregon, and is supported through charitable donations, hard work, and on-going guidance from community members.

You can find more information on how to become a member including requirements, rates, and policies on the Join IYFC page.

Our Mission

Make flying safe, affordable, and accessible to the next generation of flyers. Focus on education of its members and community through aviation to teach science and technology, and to assist community members, especially youth, in achieving their aviation aspirations.

Our Team

IYFC is co-chaired and operated by Aaron Moore and Henry Bartle along with the help and generous support from the broader Independence aviation community. Our dedicated team of volunteers, comprised of experienced individuals, generously contribute their time and expertise to foster and maintain the club. Their collective expertise plays a pivotal role in ensuring the safety and affordability of the club for all its members.

Aircraft checkouts are conducted by our safety pilots Mike Short and Scott Harvey of Aero Flight LLC. They help ensure that our members receive sufficient training and information regarding the safe operation of our club aircraft and on-going training for those pursuing their next rating.
